The Old Man of Storr

The Old Man of Storr

A visit to Skye is not complete or even at its start unless a visit to the Storr is included. This was shot in 20-35 mph winds. The tripod had to be held down to stop it blowing off the ridge. With an exposure of 2 mins it was no mean feat to hold it steady for so long. The result is this ethereal look at the Storr whilst the Sun was rising behind.

The Trotternish Ridge view

From the Quiraing on the Island of Skye
absolutely stunning as a location with breathtaking views where ever you look.
This was shot at sunrise in early November when the rich colours of Autumn are still mixed with some of the winter splendour.

  • The Storr

The Old Man of Storr picked out on its own against a backdrop of low lying cloud. Waiting for over an hour and a half in high winds and freezing tempratures to get a peek at the pinnacle. It was time well spent.

  • Elgol and the black Cullin

Elgol and the view across to the Black Cullin. Another of those breathtaking views the Isle of Skye affords the eye.

  • Allt Dearg Cottage

This isolated cottage has one of the most remarkable views on Skye set against the stunning back drop of the Cuillin. Truly a wonderful location.

  • Old rowing boat

Abandoned on the shore of a sea loch beneath the brooding Cuillin one of Skye's many majestic mountain ranges.

The Quiraing with the first rays of dawn falling on it.

The Quiraing at Dawn

The first rays of morning sun fall on the Quiraing. Shot from the side of a small Lochan the alternative view of the Quiraing would make for a great centrepiece photo of Skye on your wall.

Loch Leathan and Duntulm Bay

  • Loch Leathan

Just off the roadside and not far from the Old Man of Storr on the isle of Skye.
